Ross Perot all over?

I recently posted this to Ron Paul on his Facebook page:

"Sir - I am a conservative American (Ronald Reagan-conservative, not Bush or Romney-conservative). I believe America is still a slightly center-right country (although the "center" is not in the same place as it once was, is it?). We have an extremist in the White House right now. Why would I want to go "ditch-to-ditch" from the extreme-left with Obama to the extreme-right with you? Thank you"

Of course I did not receive a response directly from Mr. Paul, but I did receive several comments from Paul-followers. I chose to respond to only this one:

"Do conservatives like to go to war? Do they like to spend money?"

Here is my response:

"If the POTUS was only a domestic position, Ron Paul would have my vote. It is not, however; and his stand on foreign policy terrifies me and would no doubt endanger the existence of this great country. He has no issue with allowing countries like Iran arming themselves however they see fit, including nuclear weapons. That is not acceptable to me. "Like" isn't the word I would use when describing conservatives opinion on war. "Willing" fits though (I am a Marine by the way). Willing to fight for our freedom and even the freedom of our closest allies. Willing to PRO-ACTIVELY do what it takes to avoid even larger wars. Allowing Iran to have a nuclear weapon would not only put some of our closest allies in immediate danger, it would no doubt cause a massive nuclear war in the middle-east. We would HAVE to get involved with it ... otherwise it would eventually end up in our doorstep (as would China - please think about this deeply before you dismiss it's significance). Do you want that?

..... on to spending money - I will assume you meant wasting it. This is obviously not something conservatives want (no TRUE Patriot would, not even the liberal ones). Unfortunately, selecting a President is not about voting for the "perfect" candidate, but instead the "lessor of two evils" (in my case, in order to shift things to the right a little further with each election). ANYTHING to the Right of Obama is better than Obama ...... but WWIII is not an acceptable alternative to liberals like Romney and the other Republicans that spend too much, but could actually beat the Communist currently in the White House. Domestically, Paul and I are on the same page in a lot of cases. I really like his spending cuts and the departments he would get rid of (I would actually add to that list if it were me). But again, what good is a solid donestic policy if the entire world is at war (and any costs saved in his domestic policies would be more than used in the massive war he would encourage by his poor foreign policy)?

And although far less important a point to make than the above (fundamentally anyway), Paul cannot beat Obama. America will recognize him as the extremist that he is. He will need around 45%+ of Americans to get behind him. Won't happen. Ever. We need to nominate someone who will CLEARLY beat Obama. I personally do not like ANY of the candidates (nothing new there); but Gingrich clearly has the ability to go toe-to-toe with Obama. That is important. Santorum is a solid person, but I am very concerned about his ability to come off as a leader (same with Bachmann - who is out now of course). Cain was a fresh breathe, but inexperience and corruption have ruined his political career (amazing how those two things propelled Obama to victory though, huh?). Too few Americans relate to Paul for him to actually beat Obama. That in itself is enough for me not to waste a vote on him. Sad that Gingrich is the best the Republicans can offer; but until someone better comes into the picture (and not just better, but someone that is able to beat B.O.), he has my support (albeit grudgingly).

One last note - I was in the Marines when Clinton was voted in for his first term. All I can think about when I see Ron Paul is Ross Perot. Not fundamentally of course, but we got Clinton thanks to a weak 3rd Party candidate. Will we get Obama for another 4 years due to Paul insisting on deluting the non-liberal vote in America? Let me say that differently - Obama LOVES that Ron Paul is staying in the race. That should bother you. Does it? Respectfully, Bryan."

That was my lengthy response on FB. I will probably not post the FB responses and replies as they come in based on that statement; but what do YOU think about my thoughts on Paul?

Thank you,

Selling America on Obama-nomics

OK. We conservative Americans have tried to explain to all Americans what Obama is doing to us as a Nation. I wish I could say that the story below is my baby, but it is not. Not sure who came up wtih it, so I can only give credit to anonymous.

After you've read it, maybe you can use it to help anyone you know better understand what is happening to us.

Enjoy.

Little Johnny...

The kids filed back into class Monday morning. They were very excited. Their weekend assignment was to sell something, then give a talk on productive salesmanship.

Little Sally led off: "I sold girl scout cookies and I made $30," she said proudly, "My sales approach was to appeal to the customer's civil spirit and I credit that approach for my obvious success." "Very good," said the teacher.

Little Mary was next: "I sold magazines," she said, "I made $45 and I explained to everyone that magazines would keep them up on current events." "Very good, Mary" said the teacher

Eventually, it was Little Johnny's turn. The teacher held her breath. Little Johnny walked to the front of the classroom and dumped a box full of cash on the teacher's desk. "$2,467," he said. "$2,467!" cried the teacher, "What in the world were you selling?"

"Toothbrushes," said Little Johnny.

"Toothbrushes!" echoed the teacher, "How could you possibly sell enough tooth brushes to make that much money?"

"I found the busiest corner in town," said Little Johnny. "I set up a Dip & Chip stand and gave everybody who walked by a free sample. " They all said the same thing, "Hey, this tastes like dog crap!" Then I would say, "It is dog crap. Wanna buy a toothbrush?" "I used the Obama approach of giving you something shitty for free, and then making you pay to get the taste out of your mouth."

"Re-distribute the wealth!!" .... "oh, but not MY wealth, thank you!"

It's always tough to talk about Social programs in a negative light. Tough because of the genuine need that exists in our country and our world to help people with real needs; while a large amount of Americans, especially Progressives and Liberals, are using Social programs to get elected by demonizing conservative Americans who still believe in the American Dream. They paint anyone who stands against laziness and ignorance as having no heart and being nothing more than a greedy capitalist. They say that those on Social Programs are victims of a Nation that is oppressing people into poverty for the benefit of only the elite.

I would like to say that THEY are dillusional. They are not though. What they are is corrupt and looking out for ONLY themselves. Their agenda is a fabricated tool to ensure they maintain control of a corrupt government.

There are drawbacks to ANY political structure/economic structure/government. Capitalism allows ANYONE to succeed. Which means that ANYONE can fail as well. You can work as much or as little as you'd like - and you will be rewarded accordingly. This means that there will be "winners" and "losers". Socialism on the other hand promotes mediocrity for all. It requires those that work hard and succeed to share their "winnings" with those that choose not to work hard. It TAKES their success from them and RE-DISTRIBUTES it at the descretion of the government. It FORCES people to participate in programs with THEIR money that they have no desire to participate in. We have Socialist programs everywhere in our country today: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare, etc. And the current government is introducing even more Socialist programs, such as the new Health Care reform bill. It FORCES people to participate in a program whether they want to or not; and punishes them if they don't spend their money the way the government tells them to. That is the foundation of "social economics". That is UN-AMERICAN.

In Socialism, the goal is to have the vast majority of the population be in the "middle-class". So those that would work harder to achieve more are not able to. Those that would choose to be lazy and not contribute to the success of our economy/country are allowed to do so with no fear of going without housing, clothing, or food.

But what about the politicians? What happens to THEIR wealth? Well, they are the Socialists that are changing our country, so surely they are leading by example and giving all of their wealth away .... right? Not a chance. They are some of the biggest income earners in our country!! They make well over $100,000 a year and have no problems voting to give themselves salary increases. They make WAY more than the average American ..... and they get paid using OUR income taxes people!!! We work hard so THEY can get paid!!! How are they "serving" Americans when they are over-paying themselves using AMERICAN'S HARD-EARNED MONEY? I know - the total income that politicians earn is not that big relative to the massive spending the government does and we should be more concerned about all the spending than the salaries of Congress. WHAT?!??!?! WRONG!!!

The principal here is that the people WE vote to "serve" our best interests continue to ask Americans to give more and more and receive less and less while they give themselves MORE and MORE and MORE!! And the "more" they are getting comes from US!! This should infuriate Americans!!! How can we trust them to do ANYTHING in our best interest if we can't trust them to pay themselves a FAIR salary for the HONOR of being able to represent us??

Second issue is that we allow them to be "career politicians". Again, how can we possibly trust people that must say whatever it takes to get re-elected, regardless of how they really feel and regardless of what is really best for Americans???

Again, focus on the principal here. We elect people to respresent us. They take our hard-earned money to pay themselves outrageous salaries. Under the disguise of helping the lower and middle-classes, they play games with the rules that impact our economy and our job security. They lie to us in order to get re-elected so they can continue to be shielded from the new American way of life that they are forcing on the rest of us.

BUT WE CONTINUE TO ELECT THESE CORRUPT PEOPLE!! Most often, we vote "for" someone STRICTLY because they are not the party in control at the time. THAT is ignorance. We need to get the RIGHT people elected. Easier said than done, I know.

But do you really think things are going to get better without us doing something different? We cannot just sit around and allow the same thing to happen and expect a different result. Electing Obama wasn't "change" from Bush. It was only an accelaration of the Socialist crap that Bush continued after Clinton really jump-started the nanny-state in the 90's (yes it existed before Clinton, but not anywhere near the level it rose to under Clinton).

It will be PAINFUL to get our Country back on track. It will be PAINFUL to turn away the government handouts and start creating a backbone in this country again.

It will be PAINFUL to do the right thing. Isn't it always though? Isn't it easier to eat a donut than it is to walk 5 miles? Isn't it easier to allow your kid to get away with things than it is to take to the time to teach him that there are consequences for his choices? Isn't it easier to just look the other way, or blame someone else, or just plead ignorance? Of course those things are easier. But are they RIGHT?

We need to get Americans off the sugar-tit and back in front of a mirror and taking responsibility for THEMSELVES.

It won't be easy. And the only part you can control is your part. But do your part. Don't look for someone else to do it for you. Set the example. Do what you know is right.

Don't take that first "hit"

Drug dealers are famous for getting people to give in and "try" drugs ..... with every intention of getting them hooked and then sucking off of them for the rest of their lives. People who use drugs are another top reason people start using drugs ..... "peer pressure" to be a part of a group.

BIG Government is one of the worst drug dealers in the world and "progressives" are one of the worst "peers" that are pushing for what Big Government is selling. We have created welfare programs, social security, medicaid, medicare, long-lasting unemployment benefits, and the list of the nanny state "drugs" goes on and on and on........

"BUT IF WE DIDN'T HAVE THESE PROGRAMS TO HELP AMERICANS, WE WOULD BE EVEN WORSE OFF." Really? Think about the debt this country has built up and the expenses we blow through every year to support these programs. That in itself is not math we can do on any calculator made by man.

That's just the debt though. That's just money. Now think about the culture we have created by creating these programs. "Entitlement" used to be a dirty word. Now it is the GOAL of millions of Americans. It is quickly becoming the new "American Dream".

So how do you counter this culture? Well, how do you break a drug addict of his addiction? You have to REFORM their lifestyle. Some people say "rehab". Rehab is a part of complete reformation. I liken it to losing weight. You can "rehab" and lose a bunch of weight. It's simple to lose weight: burn more calories than you eat. That's it. It's not a secret. Millions of people do it every day. Then why do so many people gain the weight back? They didn't truly REFORM their lives.

Drug addicts must also completely reform their lives. They have to rehab the physical ADDICTION. They have to remove the TEMPTATION. They have to remove the INFLUENCE or ENABLER. They have to make SACRIFICES. They have to go through a fundemental transformation (reformation). Anything short of this and they will be back on the crack in just a matter of time.

We have to go through a fundamental transformation in this country. Unfortunately, we are doing that right now. In the WRONG DIRECTION!! We are encouraging the entitlement programs, the nanny state, and ultimately full dependence on the government .... all so the government can say "see, you NEED me" - "let me take care of you" - "you're not strong enough to do this on your own" - "I can help".

Sound like a drug dealer much??!!

In other words, it will be PAINFUL to break this culture down and start over. Our country has got to get beyond the "I WANT IT NOW" culture and get back to SACRIFICING FOR THE FUTURE GENERATIONS OF THIS GREAT COUNTRY CULTURE. It's about our kids and our grandkids - NOT US. We have this backwards in America right now.

"BUT HOW DO WE DO IT?" The answer is as a former boss of mine used to say: "if it is to be, it is up to me". YOU. YOU are the answer. The INDIVIDUAL has to look in the mirror and CHANGE. You have to get involved with your communities and SET THE EXAMPLE. INSPIRE people without FORCING them to change. INSPIRE them to look in the mirror and tell themselves "if it is to be, it is up to me". Join forces with your family and with God and make a concious decision to stop accepting the handouts. Stop looking the other way. Stop being selfish and start looking out for your kids and their kids and their kids. LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF ABOUT HOW YOU CAN BETTER CONTRIBUTE TO TOMORROW.

JUST SAY NO.

# 2!! Whoo- hooo!!! ????

HOORAY FOR COMMUNISM - IT'S SUCCEEDING!!! ???

Times are tough here in 2010. Relatively speaking anyway. I don't think any sensible person would argue this.

One argument from the "right" is that the current Progressive Movement (Obama, Palosi, Reid, Clinton, etc.) is a step toward all out Socialism and eventually total communal living - or Communism. There is a better agruement for this every day that goes by that these progressives run our country.

Communal living is one of the greatest theories in life. Think about it. Communal living means that the entire community comes together as one large family and does whatever it takes for the entire family to survive and procreate. What a wonderful theory. Seriously - doesn't that sound eutopic? "No one left behind". ...... And, of course, NO individualism. Individualism cannot survive in true communal living. You literally have to give up who you are for the sake of the "family" (of millions and millions and even billions, as in Communist China). If you would prefer to be an artist, but the only job the "family" has for you is working at the mill so there will be enough lumber to build homes for your "family", guess which one you will be stuck doing? NO individualism.

So the single biggest sacrifice of communism, giving up YOURSELF, is reason enough to kill the theory of communism - period. What's contradicting here is that the liberal left is known for "self-expression". The artists, the teachers, and the social workers that are screaming for recognition as individuals are the ones SUPPORTING the current Progressive Movement!!!!

-------

The opposite of Communism would be America. Our free market Republic is about as anti-communist as it gets. America has always lead the world - in technology, economy, competition, and yes, individualism.

Today it was announced that CHINA surpassed JAPAN as the # 2 economy in the world. This is alarming. It is alarming because it is sending the message to the Progressives of incoming generations that Socialism, and ultimately Communism, CAN work. It shows that everyone putting aside who they really are for the sake of "family" can benefit all and that INDIVIUALISM is actually the long-term demise of humanity.

You think that's silly for me to think? Here's a silly fact for you: more people think that ELVIS is alive than think that Obama's stimulus created jobs. Why is that important? Because it is that same minority of our population that is currently running our country!! (No, not the minority that thinks that Elvis is alive - the other one ...)

What is REALLY happening here is that Socialism is deeper in our culture than we are realizing/acknowledging. The goal of communism is to make EVERYONE the same. Not just "equal", but the SAME. China isn't getting "better". America and Japan are getting WORSE! We are dumming ourselves down at the same time that Communist China is maintaining mediocrity and removing individualism from their culture. We are globally creating an environment where no one is "better" than any one else and we cannot LEAD our world if we are all the SAME. We are removing the competitiveness that made America great and the individualism that spurs that competitiveness.

So, we are sinking down to their level. Doing this is not only hurting us directly through absence of jobs and reductions in incomes, it is globally hurting America's status as the leader of the "free world".

If we want to be EXCEPTIONAL. If we want to be INDIVIDUALS. If we want to remain FREE. We have to stop this progressive movement. We have to vote all dirty politicians out of office this year and in 2012. ALL progressives, including the large amount of progressives that hide behind the title of Republican, MUST BE REMOVED FROM OUR CONGRESS.

We must return countries like Japan to the top of the free world. Otherwise, we risk EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING people. Think about it. Please. REALLY think about it.

Slavery is SOOO "in"!!

Slavery was outlawed 150 years ago, right?

It was outlawed, yes; but it is far from being a thing of the past. It is alive and well in modern day America. Here are just a few examples:

-- WELFARE - in theory, welfare is a fantastic program to help people TRANSITION themselves from hard times back into a situation of financial "independence". The reality here, however, is that the long-term cultural shift that welfare has encouraged has enslaved countless Americans to a life of "dependence".

-- UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS - again, in THEORY, this is a great idea. The reality is that more and more Americans are DEPENDENT on these benefits and are in no hurry to get off "unemployment". I am a hiring manager for a very large company. In this terrible job market, we are CONSTANTLY hiring. The reason we are constantly hiring is because there are so many people who do not want to work. Due to the constant hiring, we often hold "open houses" to help us make several hires at one time. In these open houses, dozens of people show up ..... typically, as many as HALF of them are just there so we can sign their sheet saying they interviewed for a job so they can take the form back to the unemployment office and justify continuing their unemployment benefits.

-- CREDIT - ignorant consumers and predatory lending are the single biggest contributing factors to America's current financial crisis (yes the government encouraged all sorts of shady lending practices, but who FORCED the consumer to take out the loan they knew they coudn't afford?). ANYONE who has debt is ENSLAVED to the person they borrowed it from - unless they have the readily accessible capital to pay off that debt at any given moment.

What may jump off the page at you here is that all 3 of these examples (there are plenty more by the way) are VOLUNTARY actions. How can something VOLUNTARY be a form of ENSLAVEMENT you ask? Simple. First of all, we have an image in our minds of slavery being a white man whipping and beating a colored man while they are picking cotton for their "master". So nothing else can possibly be called slavery, right? FALSE. Our CULTURE (or MORALS that is) is deteriorating constantly and expeditiously generation after generation. The reason for this backwards shift in morality is because the "I DESERVE IT" mentality of the average American has replaced the "I CAN EARN IT" mentality (to say nothing of the removal of God from our culture).

Look at what our modern society considers "poor" to be here in the year 2010. You have a well-fed (often overweight) person with a roof over their head, cable TV, a cell phone, honest work at minimum wage, at least 1 car, electricity, water, furniture, video games, iPods, and on and on ...... That is a POOR person?? It is by American cultural standards. It is sad that we don't recognize that this lifestyle is still better than 95% of the rest of the world!!!!

Now think about what "poor" looked like 100 years ago ... skinny and hungry, no job, no home, no car (or no horse/cart), no plumbing, no electricity, no food stamps, no "umeployment", no social security, no food, no medicaid/medicare, no NOTHING. Now THAT is poor.

Now compare the second example to the first. First of all, the person in the second would have looked at the person in the first and recognized them as WEALTHY - even ELITE! Secondly, the person in the second example would NEVER have blamed the wealthy people, or the government, or their "creditors" for their situation. They would have taken responsibility for their situation and they would have WORKED their way out of it.

So the new standard of "poor" is called "progress" by some. I call it the collapse of FREEDOM.

We have to "have it NOW". We have to have it BIGGER and BETTER and NEWER and "BLINGIER"! So what do we do? We "charge it". We take advantage of "the system". We convince oursleves that we are justified in not taking honest work for less today than the job we lost yesterday. We "give in" to our children and lower the standards of what it means to be TRULY FREE. We blame others. We play the "victim". We look for excuses to wallow in our misery. We "settle". THESE THINGS ARE ALL UN-AMERICAN.

We change our CULTURE. We change God (his role in our lives). We change our Country. Eventually, we lose our Country. We lose God. We lose America. We lose our Freedom. We enslave ourselves. And we do it with the finger pointed at anyone BUT ourselves.

Look in the mirror and make a change (a little Michael Jackson for you there). Make a commitment to do YOUR part. It's the only part that YOU can control. If more of us are doing that than not, then we can save ourselves from the destructive path we are on.

Ah, Greece. So much history. So much beauty. So much failure.

I don't know about you, but when my family puts together a budget, we have to make absolute sure of ONE thing: more money cannot go out than comes in. It's that simple. This rule is not up for debate. If we don't follow this rule, we will not be able to keep our home, our car, our kids, etc. We have to either make more money, spend less money, or some combination of the two.

Every responsible family is held to these same standards. Every profitable business is held to these standards. Churches are even held to this simple math. So why then isn't our Government? If a family cannot sustain itself outside of a balanced budget, a business collapses without it, and even a church is forced to disband if they cannot balance income and expenses, how is it that our government can do it?

The answer is scary, but is not without a simple solution. A very simple solution. After all, it's basic math. We're taught it all the way back in primary school. The answer is that the government CANNOT sustain itself either.

Example: GREECE.

Greece is a beautiful country to visit, I'm sure. But Greece is a Socialist nation and as we all know, they are in the middle of a full economic collapse, violant riots, and financial bail outs right now (much of which AMERICA is directly paying for). So their government has an endless list of entitlement programs (expenses) and no incentive for individuals or businesses to make more money (so they are not increasing income through taxation). More going out than coming in is bad. Some think that a tax INCREASE will fix this math ....... uh, Greece already has an average personal tax rate that is over 33% HIGHER than here in the United States!!!

Now take a look back at that description of Greece.

The description of the United States is not so different. High personal taxes, even higher corporate taxes, huge amounts of expenses tied up in entitlement programs, and less and less incentives for American businesses to create jobs. This all leads to higher unemployment, a higher burden on the entitlement programs to support the unemployed, higher taxes to support the entitlement programs, MORE job losses so employers can afford the higher taxes that support the entitlement programs for the unemployed ..... UH-OH. Anyone catch what just happened there. We just created a self-destructing circle. When that happens, something in the circle has to change. If nothing changes, self-destruction occurs.

Cause and effect is inevitable. I know our current President and his administration (and other POTUS's before him by the way) seem to think that their decisions are immune from the cause and effect principle that guides the rest of us, but they are not. You cannot effect one thing without it effecting another - and so on and so on .... Think back to school and the "ecosystem". Better yet, think back to "The Lion King" and "The circle of Life". In other words, like it or not, we are all in this thing together. You impact me. I impact you.

So higher personal taxes (more income for the government), is NOT the answer. Just look at Greece.

Some would argue that corporate taxes are the problem and that America is not collecting enough in taxes from it's businesses ....... WRONG. Corporate taxes in the US are tied with Japan for the highest in the world!!!!!

More entitlement programs is NOT the answer. Do I really need to explain that any further?

Printing money is NOT the answer. Eeventually the countries that lend us money will want to be re-paid. Not to mention, printing too much money can cause severe inflation and devalue the dollar to the point of bankruptcy.

Quick recap: taxing the people doesn't save you, so stop leaning on the wealthy to support everyone (eventually, the rich run out of money and then what?). Corporate taxes can't save you, so stop demonizing the very companies that are there to provide us with income!!! Entitlement programs, no matter how much you tax the country, cannot sustain themselves. One fact about entitlement programs that is undeniable: if there is a "free ride" being offered, the ride will be full and it will have a long line of people waiting to get on it!! And obviously we cannot just continue to borrow money from other countries so we can print more of it.

We are doomed ......

Ah, but I haven't talked about the other half of the equation: the spending. We are spending too much. No question about that. We have got to cut back on spending. Surely THAT will save us, right? Not by itself it won't. We could cut down spending by Billions and 10's and 100's of Billions and it will NOT save us. The reason it won't save us is because businesses are being sent a message by our government that they are not welcome here. That's why so many jobs are being shipped overseas. If businesses continue to leave and we continue to lose jobs, we are just spinning around in that self-destructing circle we talked about.

In short, THE GOVERNMENT CANNOT SAVE US. So who can?

The short answer is this: WE MUST SAVE OURSELVES. Yes, DRASTICALLY cut down on spending. Also, encourage our people and businesses to make money by penalizing us LESS (lower taxes on all fronts) and creating an enviroment where businesses will want to create jobs HERE IN AMERICA. Hand in hand with this, our borders MUST be protected from illegal immigrants who are STEALING the few jobs that we have!! Lastly, this world made it centuries and centuries without a single entitlement program. We can survive without them again if we put our minds to it. Family, Church, and community will take on these responsibilities WILLINGLY if the Government just gets out of the way. The government has to shrink itself and hide in the corner if WE THE PEOPLE are to take this country back again. The private sector needs the confidence to create jobs. Jobs will give consumers the confidence to spend. Spending money that we actually have will balance things out again. DEBT, whether it's the government or the individual, MUST BE STOPPED.

So, the answer is simple - spend less than you make. The commitment needed to make a difference, "Live within your means", is not so simple. "I want it all and I want it now" is the cultural hurdle that keeps us from making the sacrifices needed to financially balance our lives and country. WE have to make sacrifices if WE are going to save this country.

Stop mooching off the government, stop voting corrupt people into government, stop living beyond your financial means, stop "playing the victim", and start holding YOURSELF accountable for your decisions. Become active in local and regional politics. Be knowledgable of what impact "cause and effect" has on every level of our financial world. In other words, play a productive role in the circle of life. BE AN EXAMPLE.
